Chemicals

Hello,

What chemicals are you guys using? We are currently using Simomiz and I wanted which ones you guys use and if you are happy with them? Thank you

We switched to McClean, & their PreSoaks work like a son0fAgun! Best PreSoaks I've ever used.! Their other stuff is good to, but PS is stupid good.
To me, Simoniz PS is below avg. A few guys on here like it. Some of Simoniz is good, though.

I have a friction tunnel and use Simoniz. Hot Wax, Ceramic Sealant and Carbonite are ridiculously good. These products applied to a clean car yield a showroom finish. Regular customers who have this package applied regularly don’t need any additional hand applied waxes or sealants to their vehicles. Being a friction wash, I don’t have to tweak presoaks like the touch free operators do.

We currently use Simoniz. No complaints from customers but the cost is closer to $2.8 per car

We have only tried two companies. The first one was JBS, and we were considered a local customer, so we had free delivery. Also, Marco was our sales rep and really helped us 8 years ago when we first got into the car wash biz. While we were shut down for a year (supposed to take 4 months), we looked at others and ultimately went with National Automotive Chemical for several reasons. We are a semi-local customer (2 hours drive away), and if we schedule a larger order, we get almost free delivery. The owner, Steve, is awesome and has helped us a lot since we reopened as a much more complex wash and now have a friction machine. I think the chemicals are really good for the cost, and we are way under $1/car on the top package with tire shine. If you consider each color of tri-foam, we are using 8 chemicals on the self-serve side and 11 on the Autec In-Bay-Express. The only chemical they share is the presoak, so we are using 18 different chemicals from them.

Several good companies out there as you can see from input from other operators. If you're new I'd find out who can support you with an good rep that knows their product. I would likely focus on touch free presoak effectiveness first and cost second. If you're not cleaning the car all the other stuff doesn't matter

That 2.80 per car sounds high but I'm not sure what all that covers. I know the touch free two step process I use from Quest retails at less than $1 per car. A premium two product wax package can retail at another dollar (operator cost)depending on your performance goals and how generous you are with your product, but you should be getting a 3-4$ upcharge on that in your pricing.
