    Tornador Update

GREAT TOOL!!! Thanks all for the info and the heads up. Really pleased so far. Wear safety glasses when working on carpet. You can vac for an hour and still throw sand in your face when you crank the little bugger up. It is worth its weight in gold....or carwash tokens(just as good). AJ

    Trash pickers...

If I see cans I snag'em. I don't make a huge attempt to get them all...some are nasty (spitters). I don't let people dive for them for two reasons: 1. They take the cap off bottles...pour them out on the lot (clean cars then drive through the pop). 2. They throw the damn bottle caps on the...

    Best value on vacuums?

Thumbs up to Eric H on ordering without decals...They are expensive and I have found places local that can make decals with my logo on them for a tenth of the price. AJ

    Where to buy the basics

Towels: Towels by Dr. Joe www.towelsbydoctorjoe.com Windows, dash, and wheel treatment: All from Car Brite Products www.carbrite.com Kleenrite is good but these are a couple other choices...I always try and price two or three and then make my choice. AJ

    Best value on vacuums?

J.E. Adams is the way to go if you ask me. I have 5 of them and they have some age on them. Still look good and function properly. It was money well spent with NO regrets. AJ

    Installing FRP on walls

I did notice a difference...Fastenal or Farmtek nylon rivets seem to be less brittle. I got the last 1000 from farmtek. At the time their price was good and that is where I bought my sheets of plastic. I went with plastic sheets instead of FRP....they are MUCH easier to clean but the shrink...

    sales tax

That is to say no tax specifically collected from the customer...rather backed out of the total at the end of the month?

    Installing FRP on walls

+1 on nylon rivets +1 on getting them from Fastenal...or Farmtek Leave a little room in between sheets for expansion as well. Your h-trim will cover this.

    sales tax

Just curious how many of you out there pay sales tax on your soap and sales tax on a wash. Basically your inputs and the resulting wash are double taxed. I know here in Iowa we are, and car dealers are not. Many have an automatic wash on site, and yet are not held to the same rules. It comes...

    Trough Advice

I went to my best and oldest HVAC customer...they made a trough for me. It wasn't that expensive and it was EXACTLY how I wanted it. Another piece of advice (take it or leave it)...pain that sucker black when you are done. It will draw a ton of heat in from the sun. In the winter it melts off...

    Know when to say NO

I would have tried it too!!! If you would have made it work I am sure there is good $$$ to be made. People pay big money for those rigs and will pay to take care of them. Now you know. Maybe you are like me and you will wake up in the middle of the night and think of a way to do it better...

    "New To Me" Detailing Scam

"There Are Some Customers You Really Don't Want to Keep?!!"

When I see flagrant violations of my rules and/or disrespect shown towards my small but nice (IMO) carwash, I speak up. But I do so with the utmost in diplomacy and tact, because, like you, I am picking up the change by the vacs...

Should I install doors on my self serve bays?

I like the "idea" door operators...but I worry about the same thing, maintenance. On the other hand...at night I lock my doors down. I don't want anybody trying to open a door that could be frozen to the ground. Or tearing a rotator cuff lifting a door that won't move. And then there is just...
