In low voltage systems, on which the sensors run on either 12 - 24 V DC or AC, it is always a good idea to ground the shield of the shielded sensor cable. Grounding helps in reducing interference especially when the control system is not located on the Gantry. Glad that teh issue was resolved !

The rubber or PVC mats can be washed without any issue. Premium cars with carpet mats should be only vacuumed and washed once in a while.
