    Cat 3535 Question

I think phred113 likes our pumps and tries to put in a good word when he can and sometimes people go overboard in their enthusiasm. Once someone realizes that the emperor has no clothes, they tend to be passionate in alerting others to 'see'. Some get upset at the messenger and others get upset...

    Cat 3535 Question

Make sure your gauge is on the pump head not further down the plumbing. You could have something collapsed or restricted between the pump and gauge so the true head pressure is not measured. This issue is common in cleaning machines that have heaters. (I know yours does not) The heater provides...

Why is my CAT pump sending morse code?

Randy has a good idea. Look for air leaks. I prefer the open hose into a bucket of water test to determine if it is an air leak. (short discharge hose directly from pump head and put the hose end under water to see if there is a stream of bubbles coming out.) Also check your check valves (not...

Adding a solenoid valve ahead of my float valves

The float valve already has enough flow to keep up with the pump needs, so the momentary absence of flow should not be an issue. If your solenoid fails (shut) then all the bays are doomed, however. I cannot help you with the electrical, sorry.

    Cat to Arimitsu conversion

The reason there is a shaft on only 1 side is for compactness and no need for a shaft cover. Since Arimitsu is the #1 pump in Japan, Maruyama (The real designer and manufacturer of CAT pumps) has to adapt to Arimitsu to sell pumps over there. It is unfortunately a different story over here. The...

A little bit of humor to start or end your day

Vet School First-year students at Texas A&M's Vet school were attending their first anatomy class, with a real dead cow. They all gathered around the surgery table with the body covered with a white sheet. The professor started the class by telling them, 'In Veterinary Medicine it is...

    Cat to Amimitsu

MEP001: It is very easy to do the change over. My guy here used to work at Cat and General and he is impressed at the relative ease. The bonus is that the shaft will still spin freely after the change over in comparison to the others. The 313 was orignally designed to flip over like the Giant...

    Cat to Amimitsu

Well since we are on the change topic, if the shaft were redone to 20 mm like the Cat 310, do you think a dual shaft (one on each side) is necessary? I get mixed repsonses about this. Wagsnwheel: The change from Cat to Arimitsu is done for reasons that include noise, cost of maintenance and...

    Cat to Amimitsu

I.B.: The shaft is the standard size sold in Japan. Arimitsu has about 80% market share of car washes in Japan and Maruyama (the maker of the Cat pump) and other suppliers divide up the remaining 20%. What is a barrier to entry for competitors in Japan is a barrier for Arimitsu here. Most...

    Cat to Amimitsu

You can replace a Cat 530 with a 313 with some changes. The hub will change from 24 mm on the 530 to 18 mm on the 313. The pump pulley will decrease in diameter by 20% to acheive the same flow. The rails will require re-drilling and positioning. The 530 has about twice the capacity of the 313...

    ICA show report

It was nice to meet some Forum members at the dinner. I had pictured many of you to be taller, shorter, fatter, thinner, than you actually are. Bravo to Bill for putting the thing on. The prize drawing was nice even if Shorco's kid rigged the drawing. I mean really, the 1st item goes to his...

A little bit of humor to start or end your day

A man walks into a bar with jumper cables around his neck. The bartender looks at him and says, "You can stay...but don't start nothing!" A minister, priest and a rabbi walk into a bar and the bartender says, "What...is this a joke?" A husband stops suddenly while making love to his wife and...

A serious look at global warming

I have read this book twice and found it more fun the 2nd time. The facts are old data compared to what is being used today. It is all relative, however. The earth is really old and has had trends and climate changes several billion times (every day the weather is different, everywhere) so any...

A little bit of humor to start or end your day

A koala bear is walking down the street of the big city and is stopped by an attractive woman. She says, "Hey, do you want some company....?" The koala bear thinks about it and says, "sure". After some time, she suggests, "Do you want to have sex?". The koala bear says, "sure". Well, she...
