Non detergent compressor oil is all I ever use. The Quin Cip is good stuff but hard to find.

FWIW it's important to use standard oil for the first 50-100 hours with a new compressor (Will usually be stated in the manual), otherwise it will never break in properly and it will either leak oil from piston blow-by or it will allow oil in with the compressed air.

Is it a screw compressor or a piston compressor?
It's a Quincy piston.
I was just inquiring if anyone had experience that would lean me to choose RP vs. Quin-Cip.
FWIW, I've used Royal Purple in BIG BOX compressors in the past with excellent results.

However, Quincy recommends and provides additional warranty coverage when Quin-Cip in used in their compressors.
So...Quin-Cip will be my choice for this new installation.

But thanks for the KTH sales pitch.

Not sure what sales pitch your talking about.
I asked if it was a piston or screw compressor because we have oil for screw compressors that is better then Royal Purple and cheaper.
We don't have anything for piston compressors

I've heard nothing but good things about their products. Same with Amsoil, who makes a synthetic ISO 68 compressor oil that I may have to try in Cat pumps.

Royal Purple is a great Product. We just happen to be a huge player in the oil industry so we were able to get a better product made and sell it cheaper
