Hello everyone, I have a booster pump that isnt working for my spot free system. Unfortunately it was ran dry. The pump gets hot but doesn't turn on at all. Is there any way to fix it? I attached some pictures of the pump with the model number on it.
A 15 yr old pump, run dry for a week... holy cow. Time for a new motor/pump. It comes as a single unit. On some RO systems the pump and motor can be replaced independently.
Your RO system should have a Low Pressure Switch that turns the pump off if you have insufficient feedwater pressure - so that your pump doesn't run dry. Does your RO not have such a switch? Or is the switch bad?
It's dead. Unfortunately, the odds of successfully rebuilding that is someone between zero and none. More unfortunately, those pumps have gone crazy on price in the last couple of years.
I would replace it with a new pump. Kllenrite or others can spec it out for you. As a safety measure on my spot free rinse tanks I always have a hydrominder mounted on top with a long lead on the weight bottle. If the tank gets low it automatically fills with soft water to prevent running dry.
