Our local online newspaper did an article on our Dog Wash:

We have had lots of positive comments about it! It has been open a little over a year now.

Good for you, that was a very well written article that should help drive some traffic. Your facility looks really nice.

You guys with dog washes should print this out and take it to your newspapers to try to prompt them to write about yours.

Dog Wash Report - 2012

Five years ago, statistics showed the percent of dog owners growing fast. By 2012, the percentage was expected to grow about 10 to 20 percent.

According to AVMA, the U.S. had 2 million fewer dogs and 7.6 million fewer cats at the end of last year than at the end of 2006.

Pundits expect continued decline in pet ownership. The main factors of decline are thought to be economic – less income; and segmentation – boomers account for large percent of ownership.

Who purchases pet products/services is shifting from women, ages 25-55, to the upcoming market currently ages 8 to 51. This cohort includes Gen-X presently 31-51 years old and Gen-Y who are 8 to 30 years old.

Gen-X is cynical, skeptical and sometimes considered lazy. Gen-Y is tech savvy, multitask, short attention span and not loyal to firms.

Our outlook for dog wash is weaker markets and less demand. The challenge will be to turn to forward-thinking marketing tactics to attract the next generation of consumers.

Consequently, as many self-service owners have failed to capture Gen-X and Y as carwash customers, they may also fail to capture them as dog washers.
