Direct connection washveiw remote to HV

I am having a horrible time trying to connect directly my PC to my washworld High velocity. I bought the cable and USB adapter WW told me to buy and past that they are not much help. Can someone give me some help.

I was told the serial connection is the same connection my modem was connected to

I have the USB to serial connection and the connection works on a different product.

I made sure the settings matched the WV remote and my port settings on my computer.

Still just get comm error on WV remote when j try to direct connect.

I'll have my senior tech post some info to help you with this. I know the frustration of buying the parts to do it, and then the people can't tell you how to do it.
