Anyone doing a good job cross promoting services at your car wash? We are a flex serve car wash with a separate 8 bay garage that does full auto repair and full details. The automotive repair part has been part of the business for the last 5 years but a lot of the general public still view it as a full detail building (it was only full detail for the first 8 years). The car wash / express detail is definitely the larger part of the business but we would like to grow the auto repair side. There is a captive audience of customers that get express details at the car wash where our employees get a chance to interact with the customer at vehicle send off. I didn't know if any other businesses have multi profit centers and if they had any recommendations on how they promoted these other profit centers. Thanks!

Changing perception of a business can be achieved through brand and imaging.

Here, you want to make clear distinction between auto service and detail.

You might be able to accomplish this with something as simple as building a divider wall to physically separate the service and detail bays. Have separate customer care area for auto service customers and carwash/detail customers.

If there is enough market, you might also consider dumping detail and use all 8 bays for auto service. For example, 5 bays for repair service and 3 for express oil change.

You could also create new image by investing in a franchise like Precision Tune or low cost operating licensing agreement like Valvoline.
