    Cleaning Wall Paneling in Bays???

NuWall is great but be CAREFUL. In the end we replace the FRP about every 7-10 years or so. Works for us.

    Fence in self serve carwash

The 6' fence does cut the wind a lot. We do not use doors on the automatics in Michigan, so it helps.

    Fence in self serve carwash

Mike-yes, we are still a "pay one price, wash all you want" 6+2 gated carwash. Still doing well. The fence along the rear has been there for 35 years. The property is not accessible from the rear but the fence offers a secure feeling for customers.

    Pit Cleaning Advise

We pay a third party once a year, maybe more if needed. They suck it out and provide documentation on disposal. Works for us!

    Car wash floor heating

For a two bay wash, please consider closing it down in the extreme weather. Most other solutions will cost you a bundle in the end and not recover costs, IMO. If you use floor heat, watch out! If can eat you alive in low volume situations.

Warnings You Would Give Me Letting Large Crowds of Youth "Loiter" at the SS?

My suggestion: You need to end the gatherings. Consider making a plan and sticking to it. I would probably hire a security firm to prevent no customer congregation on the location, providing an advanced notice with explanation. You see, the customers who might use the wash will drive by and see...

    Cleaning Wall Paneling in Bays???

Eventually, consider replacing the material with new FRP. It really brightens up the bays and in the North prevents ice buildup over brick, We covered our through the wall brick decades ago and have replaced the FRP once.

    Fence in self serve carwash

We put up a wood 6' solid fence across the back and side of the property to eliminate the chance of someone hiding behind the was, Much more secure with the fence and better for women customers. The can see anyone coming or going much more easily.

Does Having a Leaf Blower Help at Your SSCW?

We have always used a Stihl gas blower but caution; DO NOT let staff use blower in the area of active customers around the vacuum islands, Letting a new hire or kid use the blower without training will cause a lot of grief! Good luck.

Does anyone stock a decal like this?

Tokens should provide security and convenience for customers, not a built in profit for the operator. Keep thinking about payment systems that do not use coins. Most people today do not want to deal with coins or bills for payment, IMO.

Jerry - I am in the indoor tanning business and have been in the "unlimited tanning" segment for 18 years now, fitness club with memberships for five years now. Our programs start at unlimited for $9.99 up to 39.99/mo. With most all membership programs, the unique nature of the low perceived...

    Unlimited washing for self serve?

We operate a WAUW 6+2 in a small Midwest city, charging $8 for any and/or all services (autos, bays, vacs, air freshener, terry towels). We looked at the unlimited concept and decided against it. We do a significant volume in a small percentage of days so we will stay with the "pay as you go"...

Self Serve Customers are driving me to drink

We do not seem to have the kind of trouble mentioned here. If I suffered that much, I'd get out. 30+ years in the SS business and still fells good.

How do I price my wash for sale?

Seller financing can be a strong motivator for many purchasers. If you do please consider setting up an escrow account at a local bank that both of you can access on-line, and collect monthly statements. All utilities, property taxes, building insurance and payment to seller are deducted from...
