Convert my full service to an express wash? Market for full service washes?

I don't have the room at some locations. I can only stack one car before it is on the conveyor. at others I never felt like making the investment.

Convert my full service to an express wash? Market for full service washes?

We use what I call the Toll Booth system. I will post a link to a video. 1 to 2 employee's per shift. 1 is the cashier / loader and the other for everything else. On busy days the second person walks 6 or so cars down the line to take payments and marks the windshield for any extra services...

Convert my full service to an express wash? Market for full service washes?

1970's my family converted one, and 1990's another. Did not and do not use pay stations. Also have Self serve Pay Vacs since not enough room for free. when we first heard the term Express Exterior" we said "Oh, so that is what we do is called. " But later it seemed no pay stations...

    Direct injection question for self-service

    1. If Chem dilution tanks would freeze, this system will freeze under same circumstances 2. Had Chem pumps in one tunnel I acquired. Got rid of them and replaced with Hydominders and Flo Jets. Less finicky.

    Ghost Washes

Exactly why I went to loops. I gave up the "To the Inch" accuracy for whatever that might have been worth to not have to be concerned with dirty eyes, knocked out of alignment eyes, people walking thru eyes

Doyle vacuums with pleated cartridge filters

Interesting my Guage is about Chest level as well. I wonder if we need to adjust for height variations. :)

Doyle vacuums with pleated cartridge filters

My Guage is to take the nozzle and place on my hand. If I let go and the suction is enough to support the weight of the hose it passes.

Or phenomenally busy or pits are too small.

Doyle vacuums with pleated cartridge filters

I would have to say - Mud may be the exception but even with Shampoo and Vacs it's rare. For whatever reason thick layers of hair just doesn't seem to happen. After many years I may need to replace a vacuum bag because I notice dirt getting sucked into the screen below the motors which means...

Doyle vacuums with pleated cartridge filters

Heck. if it is one thing I don't want to have to do is clean filters twice a week or even twice a year. Unless suction is affected - never clean them. They shake themselves out.

Retro fit or buy 3/5 column electric vendor

I will have to check again but I think my mechs had adjustments for more than 4 quarters but not more than 6-8. After that (per Chip at Laurel) you have to change the mech and door and it's not cost effective.

Doyle vacuums with pleated cartridge filters

I think square footage of the filter is not really relevant unless you plan to clean regularly. You need something that self cleans to an extent like the spring loaded cylinders or something that flexes with the on off cycles. Don't see that happening with pleats.

Retro fit or buy 3/5 column electric vendor

Problem is with wholesale prices climbing I think the manual venders max out at $1.50-$1.75. Consider 5 column for air frexheners.

    Are customers getting dumber?

I have had better success saying something like: "Can you please finish up in a couple of minutes or pull out to finish so someone waiting can use the bay" . People don't like being told what to do.

Doyle vacuums with pleated cartridge filters

Hard to tell what if any part of this is serious. Never gotten a complaint. Which zip code of fantasyland would that be? I can see if you have the type of bag filter where you have a hollow cylinder accessible from the bottom like Coleman that even packages a round toilet type brush with...

Doyle vacuums with pleated cartridge filters

Like MEP - Rarely remove bags to clean. I think the Cloth bags tend to shake out the dirt as bags flex during on / off cycles. I see the pleated ones needing cleaning regularly since they don't have that ability and if they are like my shop bac dirt gets stuck in the pleats.

    Credit card surcharging

In the SS Bays with LED 7 Timers you can offer "Bonus Time " and it only works for Cash. You can also have a separate minimum start charge for CC and that along with count up compensates for the cost.

What’s THE most overcomplicated equipment you’ve worked on?

I acquired a Belanger equipped tunnel that had Dema injectors drawing straight from the concentrated chemicals attempting to adjust dilutions with the injectors. I refined it by letting the demas inject at maximum capacity and flow and set up Hydrominders with buckets to achieve desired...
