When gas goes up, people feel their cars are gouging them.
They delay oil changes and tire changes, and unfortunately car washes because they are not a necessity.
I noticed a correlation between gas price spikes and wash business revenues last go around.
But people don't give up their $4...
Per last statement - $5.77 per 1000 gallons for both water and sewer.
Sounds cheap, but my city property taxes last year were $22,000 for a 7 bay SS. Can't win them all.
Induction lighting seems like the way to go. I have Scottsdales at my site. I think the ballasts are starting to go on a few of them. Rather than repairing them I'm thinking of giving the induction lighting conversion option a try.
What do I need to do to convert these Scottsdales over to...
Another problem - using foam brush with weep water only on a dirty car will wear out hogs hair brushes much sooner. Weep mizer definitely helps. Just one of those things I try to accept being in this business, having said that, it still really pi##es me off!!
I use black HP braided 3/8". Seems to hold up the best all 'round.
Tried a lighter advertised 3/8 foam brush hose, but mine also kinked with warm weep water. Would like to use a lighter weight hose, but haven't really found a suitable replacement. I'm willing to give some other product a try...
Mike, I think you've done some good initial homework, and you might be feeling a little dismayed by some of these of these comments. But please take these as words of wisdom.
I run 19 SS bays at 3 locations out here on the west coast of Canada. Am I making money - YES. Do I like what I'm...
I have the MC315RL-CC. Machine has been very reliable. I also have the receipt printer, but it jams frequently. Went to a thicker thermal paper which has helped, but still jams from time to time.
I bought the machine more for customer convenience, and as a back up in case my two changers...
Thanks, Pitzer, but I think I have the solution with the replacement faceplate (link above), which is CNC machined 7/8" thick billet steel. If they get through this faceplate, I'll post about it, but I can't see them being able to, but anything is possible.
Turbo.
Big Leo, the first time my two Standard changers got vandalized, the cost to replace the bill acceptor/verifiers, repair damaged bill stackers, and replace the stock faceplate - $2,500.
Installed a digital video surveillance system with 14 cameras, board camera in each changer, and a sensor on...
Posted in the past about my security problems with my Standard Changers.

Found the solution that I needed to reinforce my changers. Install was easy, and replacement part is very high quality. Also, esthetically it looks...
That's what my changer dispenses - tokens, and as Earl states, I still must take bills and coin to dispense the tokens.
I'm getting a quote Thursday to install timed automated roll down shutters on these two changers. So between certain hours, say midnight to 7 AM, customers will only be able...
Thanks Jim for the link to that thread. I also have the sensors, a pressure alarm switch, and a small board camera in my changers.
The problem is these guys walk right up to the changer, and with a flat bar they hammer or manually pound the bar in the acceptor just like a bill. I think they...
I've had a couple of the Standard bill acceptors destroyed by vandals inserting a pry bar into the acceptor thinking they can get access to the bills. They end up with no money, but I end up with a changer with a destroyed acceptor.
I imagine this has probably happened to other operators...
Gun and Foam brush hose - Upper swivel I rebuild once, lower swivel at the gun and brush handle I discard and replace. The lower ones tend to be more worn due to higher loads and tend to not last that long after a rebuild. Boom swivels - tend to last quite long - I rebuild them at least once...
I've had the Dultmeier unit for four years now. Very happy. No maintenance issues other than gun or hose replacement. Weep system hooked up to my Weep Mizer, no freeze ups down to +10 degrees F. all open bays.
Gets used a fair amount, but you need to have good signage to promote it or an...
I like the SS dryer idea and also giving the customer another profit center to spend their money on, but what do I charge?
I'm at $2 for 4 minutes in the SS bays, and basically full most days and weekends, if I offer the dryer (Blasto or Shammee) and the dryer time is longer than the $2 for 4...
Like everyone else I have certain customers using the high pressure guns to remove snow from their cars, leaves and pine needles, and of course to clean out their pick-up beds. Do you find that customers using the blower/dryers for these types of activities as well? Just a thought.
