    Credit Card usage increase

Our car washes have not see any shift towards credit/debit cards during the pandemic. We continue at our 80-20 debit-cash ration.

Mandatory Mask Ordinances (How Will You React As a Business Owner?)

Unless an ordinance is cost-prohibitive, I would not shut down. I believe there are people who want to destroy small business, and as long as I can remain open, I am going to do so to fight back.

Anyone taking advantage of the coin shortage to raise prices?

We bag our quarters in these big plastic bags. The bank we deal with is not shipping them off, instead keeping them, ready to break them open if need be.

Anyone taking advantage of the coin shortage to raise prices?

Two of our car washes are at an even dollar amount, anyway. One of car washes does have a price ending in 50 cents, and the market there would not support anything more. At all of our locations, quarters have been fine, anyway, although the Baltimore Area, where I'm at, is struggling with a...

How is your volume YOY since April 1, 2020

Our YOY is way up. When I compare my three car washes April to April, April 2019 was way better since we were closed the following year at the time same. However, we got to open in early May, when pollen was starting in 2020. We didn't have squat for pollen last year. Pollen is the biggest...

CIVIL PROTESTING CLOSE TO CAR WASH NEW EXPERIENCE???

Years ago, we had a guy who wasn't happy with the car wash he received. The standards we offered (second wash, refund) wasn't good enough for him. I forget the particulars, and I'm guessing he wanted too much in return. Anyway, for a few days, he had himself a one-man protest. We laughed it off...

    A nation of sheep

Neither do I. People are trading liberty for a false sense of security.

    How are you all doing?

Whatever the case may be, the Chinese government has got to be looking at this as a happy accident or better than what they anticipated. The American economy is in tatters. Americans have lost many civil liberties. We are polarized even further.

Poll: Biden or Trump is best for my car wash?

I don't see Biden either. I'd like to add that the Democratic Party itself will hurt Biden. What I mean by this theory is that the Democratic Party has fostered a culture of belief that white people are privileged and bad. Old white men (i.e. Biden) are the worst of the worse. He's just not...

Poll: Biden or Trump is best for my car wash?

I'm in the no impact category. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and the state legislature have a greater impact on my business than whoever the president is. Hogan has shut us down. The state legislature had a big push to tax services that thankfully fell apart, but I know we're going to have to...

    How are you all doing?

If my car washes were open, I would be doing everything I could to show customers I'm anti-COVID-19. In general, I see so many businesses leaving money on the table and possibly closing because the owners' mindset with the customer base was that they should want and feel a certain way.

    Unattended tunnel incident

I myself would never do an unattended tunnel. Even while attended, I saw so much crazy stuff when my father and I had one.

    Typical yearly IBA throughput

We use LaserWash 4000s and M-5s. Our washes go from five to eight minutes. There's no way we could get one of those machines to do more than 20,000 cars a year. At one of our locations, we did 60,000 with three 4000s.

    Birds

Recently, at our rural location, we had a buzzard get into the mechanical room, scaring the you-know-what out of our city boy mechanic. He left the mechanical door open and returned many minutes later to find the buzzard gone. I hope it's not an omen for something.

How long will the covid19 virus be around...

I just learned the latest 60,000 projection is based off of the current policies being in place until August 4. I don't see that happening.

    Hand sanitizing stations

Same here. I have one in a bad rural area and one in a semi-bad suburban area.

    Bank not taking coins

With things so slow, I hate telling customers we're doing any change of policy. It's a lot easier to change policy when we're busy.

    Pit cleaning..

We used to have a waste pumping company do ours, but the price for them and anywhere else was way out of the ballpark. We then went to shoveling into wheelbarrows and shoveling into dumpsters. Then we use our skid loader and do it that way. We do it in-house and pay the employees who do it extra.

    Carwash Closings

That's where I'm at. I'm looking at the government as one of two things. The first is that the government is simply incompetent and has no idea what they're doing. The second is that they're simply manipulating the crisis to benefit themselves. Look at the projections. Originally up to 2.2...
