yes, we have some connected in count down, basically set up so it sends pulses to timer like a coin mech or bill acceptor would. I don't think there is a way to keep the different pricing between vac and fragrance/shampoo in count-up mode, but we were planning to do count down on vacs anyways...

We have found an external stop button necessary with count up. It has cut down our complaints and no issue if the screen is unresponsive. We add to all new count up installs and went back and installed on our old installs as well.

Every machine is going to be different. Manufacturer should have that info. That should be a quick call or email to get what you need.

You can use a smart plug of your choice and "plug" the main power of the gold line into that. Its pretty simple, may just have to add receptacles and plugs to your wiring if it is currently hard wired. There are many smart plugs and relays to choose from on Amazon and any other major retailer

That is most likely some junk stuck in solenoid holding it open, even though it's new, try taking apart and see if there is something holding plunger open.
